I hope everyone is having a good weekend!  It’s been a little while since our last SunBlogNuke Update, but things here at SunBlogNuke Modules have remained busy!  Ultimate blog module SunBlogNuke 03.04.00 was released yesterday evening.  This release contains several fixes to issues that had emerged with previous releases, as well as enhancements, such as the ability to support [EXCERPTTEXT] & [EXCERPT] token for customized template, to provide you with the option for rendering items of monthly archive list.  For complete release notes, please follow this link Release Notes.

As mentioned in our post Ultimate DNN Blog Module – SunBlogNuke Roadmap for 2010, we will re-design the blog framework and make it more extendable and flexible, also with code refactoring - Focus on simplifying the existing codes. The release completed some goals for those requests, for example, separating widget structure and later any developer will can develop their customized widgets and integrated with our blog module. Hope we can provide you a widget sample with detailed tutorial. Take a look at the screenshot below:

Another enhanced issue is that renamed "FeaturedEntries Widget" into "Content Slider Widget" because it is not only for rendering featured posts but also show latest, top view and random posts. In the next building we will enhance it with more awesome features and then think that "Content Slider Widget" will be more suitable for it. In this release we removed the original [DESCRIPTION] token and replaced it with [EXCERPTTEXT] & [EXCERPT] token for customized template, so if you upgrade it please modify your template in widget settings of New "Content Slider Widget" as follows:

Note that:

  • [EXCERPT] - the post excerpt (summary);
  • [EXCERPTTEXT] - the post excerpt plaintext (strip out HTML tags and script, escape any quote or escape characters);

As with any release, we recommend you perform a complete file specially your customized files like customized style or theme and database backup before performing any upgrade on a production website and that you first conduct a trial upgrade on a staging version of the site. Following these guidelines will ensure that you are able to recover should any unforeseen problems arise during the upgrade process.

You can get it here. Enjoy blogging and good writing! :)
