Updated for SunBlogNuke v4.2.5

Let us start the blogging journey in DNN now.

1) Log in with Admin privileges.

2) Create the User Account for the blogger, if they don’t already have one.

3) (Optional) Assign them a security role that has/will have View and Edit privileges to the page their blog will be on (you can do this later if you don’t know who you want to set up as the blogger yet).

4) Create the page that will have the blog and install the main blog module on it.  In the tutorial we select RightPane as the location to place the module. After the SunBlog module is added to the page, the following modules are placed in the RightPane, as shown below:

  • SunBlog View
  • SunBlog Meta
  • SunBlog Category
  • SunBlog Archive
  • SunBlog TagCloud
  • SunBlog Search

Note that on Page Settings, we may want to assign View and Edit privileges to the Security Role that the user has been or will be assigned to. That is optional and is related with the steps 3).

5) (Optional) let’s move the SunBlog modules around to improve page view and presentation. Click on the little Arrow on the SunBlog_View module’s top-left and select “Move To
ContentPane”.

6) From the SunBlog_Meta module, click on the "Admin Panel" to bring up the Blog Administration screen, and click on the Manage Blogs icon to bring up the Manage Blog screen, where you will find "Create Blog" button. Then click it to create new blog and assign it to current page or any page (the filed [Blog.Home.Page]), which you have installed the SunBlog module.  The manipulation interface will be showed as follows:

Not that here is the key to create a new separate blog for different page with the Ultimate DNN Blog Module – SunBlogNuke. In the way you can build multiple blogs for your dnn website.

when you have filled in related information and click the "Update" button, a new blog will been created with the given page as the screenshot below.

7) Right now you need to return [Admin Home] with the right top navigation and you will see the whole interface for the new blog as follows:

Choose Tags – can manage tags that you’ve assigned to your blog posts.

8) Next, we need to assign some specific user as the owner for this blog. From the Blog Administration screen, click on the User icon to bring up the Manage User
screen as showed below:

Not that here is the key to setup a DNN blog with multiple authors. And if you would like to integrated SunBlogNuke with WLW, you must complete the step to build a user account for connecting WLW, otherwise you may encounter the issue mentioned in that post Fixed Window Live Writer Issue with SunBlogNuke.

Now the SunBlog support three different roles, including Blog Owner, Editor, Author and Contributor. In future we will include more roles( i.e  Subscriber) and enhance the permission management. The detail information about those roles as follows:

Blog Owner : Somebody who has access to all the administration features about their own blog.
Editor : Somebody who can do any except that configurable task, i.e he/she can add new category or modify any one's posts or approve other posts.
Author: Somebody who can publish entry without approved and manage their own posts.
Contributor : Somebody who can write and manage their posts but not publish posts due to require moderation.
Subscriber : Somebody who can receive news letters, etc.

Congratulation, the basic configuration of the blog is done. The blog owner can do anything what he/she want for his/her blog. :)
